Paediatric Cardiology Camp |
| Images of the camp organized by St. Stephen's Hospital from 12th March 2005 to 19th March 2005, where doctors from U.S.A joined our cardiology team under the "Heart to Heart" program. The objective was to examine Congenital Heart Diseases and perform Cardiac Catheterization, Cardiac Interventions and Cardiac Surgeries in eligible patients. Around 300 patients were examined by St Stephen's over a period of 5 months, out of which 40 patients were selected for the action in this camp. Over 70 echocardiographies were done. In all 16 cases done in Cath Lab of which 7 patients were treated percutaneously (without surgery) in the Cath Lab for their congenital birth defects; 4 arterial septal defects (ASD) were closed with devices and 3 patients with PDA were treated with PDA device closers in the Cath Lab. The ASD and PSD device closers are done only in a few selected institutions in India. Patients needing detained evaluation of anatomy and physiology were catheterized before surgery. 16 other surgeries were done in the OT of which 12 were open heart and 2 were off pump. |
