The Department of Medicine has a total number of 14 doctors, with 3 Senior Specialists, 4 Registrars and 7 House Doctors. The department has the following sub-speciality clinics. Gastroenterology: The hospital has a specialised Endoscopy clinic where upper and lower G.I diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures are done. These include Upper G.I Endoscopy, Sigmoidoscopy and Colonoscopy. Chest Diseases: These are very common in Delhi with a wide spectrum of diseases from allergic bronchial asthma to chronic obstructive airway disease and tuberculosis. The chest clinic is held every Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Medical OPD. Invesitgations like Fibreoptic Bronchoscopy (FOB), Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) are done here. PFT is used to assess the degree of disease in patients with lung troubles. This also helps in determining the response to therapy and deciding whether any dose modifications have to be made. Diabetic Clinic: All diabetic patients who need careful follow up are treated in the Diabetic Clinic which is held every Monday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Medical OPD. Dietary advice is also given to these patients during this clinic as part of the health education for diabetics. Medical Oncology Clinic: Screening and follow up for cancer patients are done in the Oncology Clinic every Monday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Special cancer cases like Oral Cancer, Breast Cancer are treated in the clinic. Screening and early detection of breast cancers are done through Mammography. This is also used for Stereotactic biopsy and localisation for breast cancers. Breast lumps can also be diagnosed with a Needle Biopsy Test (FNAC) Tuberculosis Unit: A weekly TB Clinic is conducted on Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. All tuberculosis cases who need special care and follow up are treated in the clinic. |
