MARGADARSHAN St.
Stephen's Hospital has started a free
telephone helpline called Margdarshan.
People with emotional problems like anxiety/stress, depression, phobias
and suicidal ideas can now talk directly to a mental health professional
and get instant guidance and help. In
our society mental problems are associated with stigma. People are
unwilling to go to a psychiatrist/psychologist for the fear of being
labeled mad. In today's fast paced life interpersonal relationships are
put under severe stress. Day to day existence, competitions at every
level in life and job insecurities further add to one's problems in
life. 'Margdarshan' help line offers confidential and reliable help to people in distress. It
will also help to remove superstitions about mental illness. The
free telephone helpline offers an interface between the trained
professional and the common man. People can seek help for their mental
problems without going to the hospital. Whenever medication or detail
investigation is necessary the helpline will advise the patient to visit
the hospital personally or to consult a psychiatrist. St.
Stephen's Hospital has been serving all strata of society. This is a new
endeavor in the field of mental health and the first of its kind. This
is yet another effort by St. Stephen's Hospital to deliver better health
care to the community. Margdarshan
