Training
Training is an integral part of the mission of the Hospital. In fact, the Mission Statement mentions that one of the objectives of the Hospital is "to train doctors, nurses, midwives and other paramedical and administrative personnel and to conduct medical research."
The Hospital conducts several formal and informal training programmes.
Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations
The Hospital conducts post-graduate medical courses of the National Board of Examinations in 15 disciplines including some super-specialities.
These are 3 year (and, in certain cases 2 year) post graduate courses for doctors. These Diplomas are recognised by the Medical Council of India to be equivalent to MD / MS in the concerned discipline.
B.Sc. (Honours) Nursing
B.Sc. (Honours) Nursing, a graduate programme of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is conducted in the Hospital. This is a four year residential course. The course is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and the Delhi Nursing Council.
General Nursing and Midwifery
A three and half year General Nursing and Midwifery course is conducted in the Hospital. The School of Nursing of the Hospital is a hundred years old, and has a reputation for producing very efficient and well trained nurses. The course is followed by 6 months' internship. It is recognised by the Indian Nursing Council and the Delhi Nursing Council.
Allied Health Professional Courses
Two year Diploma courses are conducted in 6 allied health disciplines. 5 of these are Christian Medical Association of India courses, while the Laboratory Technology course is an Indian Medical Association and National Institute of Open Schooling course. Some of these courses have internship.
The B.Sc. (Honours) in Optometry Techniques of the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) is also conducted in our Hospital.
Diploma in Nursing Administration
The Hospital is a Study Centre for IGNOU's Diploma in Nursing Administration.
Diploma in Hospital Waste Management
The Hospital is a Study Centre for IGNOU's Diploma in Hospital Waste Management.
Electives
Medical students from foreign countries can opt to do an Elective in St. Stephen's Hospital.
